Pilates Takes Center Stage
Excited to announce the arrival of my Total Body Mat Pilates class, starting next week.
“What’s Pilates?”
…. asked by one of our very own JBirds after dance class this past week.
And I was really excited about the follow up question, “what can it do for me?”
In last week’s newsletter, we talked about trends for 2026. I had reflected on last year‘s big trend being strength training, especially for women. Exclaiming how I loved the attention it was getting but..if I’m being honest… here were my thoughts throughout all of the excitement with lifting heavy.
Do you have the foundation, the internal strength, support and self-awareness to execute proper strength training technique to avoid injury and to get the most out of your training time?
This is where Pilates enters the room and shines 🌟
It IS the foundation!
It gets you talking to your center again. Something women struggle with as we age, especially after having children.
The disconnect is real and most, if not all of us, experience it at one point or another. And sometimes…that disconnect can last for decades.
I don’t say this to scare you. I say this to empower you.
Pilates is a phenomenal way to reconnect to every muscle in your midsection, core and more.
It not only teaches you stability, but it trains you how to move while using your inner strength to make you a superwoman when you are working out, as well as in your everyday life.
I haven’t formally named my classes in the past Pilates, but the principles of this discipline have always been an integral part of all my body conditioning classes. And you can even say influence how I warm you up and stretch you out during a Dance Cardio class.
The breath work alone is extremely valuable.
The movement will make you powerful and it will give you the opportunity to be unstoppable!
Yeah I just said that…damn that was good 😊
